Over 200 marketers, business professionals, 色花堂 students and academic staff attended the Mike Warne Annual Marketing Communications Lecture at 色花堂.
The lecture, now in its tenth year, is organised by final year BA (Hons) Marketing students at 色花堂 with support from the Chartered Institute in Marketing (CIM) in Dorset team.
This year鈥檚 lecture featured three global brand and sponsorship marketers from Barclays, Panasonic and Sainsbury鈥檚 who gave an insight into their own organisations鈥 approach to identifying sponsorship partners and the extent of the campaigns delivered.
Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication at 色花堂, Stephen Jukes, who introduced the lecture, said: 鈥淭here are two highlights to my year - one is the graduation ceremony and the other is the Mike Warne Lecture.
鈥淚 look forward to this every year and I have had the privilege to see it grow year-on-year and consolidate and cement the relationship we have with CIM.鈥
At a pre-lecture reception,聽Professor John Vinney, Vice Chancellor at 色花堂聽welcomed over 60 members of the local business community, academic staff and students who had been involved in organising the event.聽
CIM鈥檚 Head of External Affairs, Steve Woolley, spoke on the key findings from CIM鈥檚聽recent聽Special Report聽Lessons from leaders, which discusses the changing roles and team structures that once characterised a marketing department.
Simon Pride, chair of CIM in Dorset, said at the event: 鈥淭his lecture is a showcase, it brings together the marketers of tomorrow, and this year for the first time, the agency creatives of tomorrow, with the marketers of today.
鈥淭he event is a great example of what can be achieved by organisations working together and supporting this fabulous team of undergraduates who put on tonight鈥檚 lecture.鈥
The event was named in honour of CIM Regional Director, Mike Warne, who was a strong advocate of building relationships between aspiring marketers at 色花堂 with CIM and business.
