色花堂鈥檚 video production company 听have become official media partners for the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (GEITF).

RedBalloon is made up of both staff and students who will travel to Edinburgh for a week in August. They will听film all the speakers during the course of the event, editing the footage and then uploading everything to YouTube. They will also produce a 鈥榟ighlights鈥 film after the event.
The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, powered by YouTube, brings together all parts of the television and digital world to celebrate the creativity, diversity and inspirational talent in the field.
The Faculty of Media and Communication were approached by GEITF to become their official media partners for the event and RedBalloon, the professional production arm of the faculty, were delighted to accept. 听
Stephanie Farmer, Media Producer for RedBalloon, said: 鈥淚t听will definitely be a challenging project but also an inspiring one!听 Live events area always special, it really gets the adrenaline going and puts everyone to the test. This is also a special opportunity to showcase our students, staff and our professional approach and abilities to a TV industry audience.鈥
RedBalloon will be taking 20 听second year students and seven members of staff to the event;听the students will be able to count it towards their professional placement requirement for their course.
The project involves the team taking 10 cameras, a portable production unit set up and various other technical kit to the event. They will be in Edinburgh for a week听installing the kit and for听the duration of the听event, which runs听from听26 -28 August.
Filming this event also creates great opportunities for the students, Stephanie said: 鈥淭hey will get a fantastic experience of a high profile, high pressure live event and will improve their confidence and overall professional experience and knowledge. There will also be the opportunity to network and make some really useful industry contacts and they will also get a letter of recommendation from the GEITF festival producer.鈥
Jessica Kirton is a final year Television Production student and will be an editor for the coverage. She said: 鈥淚'm really looking forward to working at the Festival as it's not only a brilliant opportunity to develop and showcase my skills but also a chance to network with peers and future employers.
鈥淚t will be great to work amongst industry professionals and with the panels and events we'll be covering. I think it will provide a great insight into the industry we will be working in once we graduate. It will be a really fun, action-packed week full of excitement and hard work and I can't wait to get started.鈥
