  • 50% of the course will be spent in practice placements, in community听and hospital settings, where you鈥檒l learn from your interactions with women, families, midwives and other health professionals
  • You鈥檒l be introduced to new equipment and skills in our simulation facilities, including a birthing suite, where you can familiarise yourself with techniques prior to going into practice

Funding support:听Midwifery听students听may be eligible for a non-repayable government training grant听of听at least 拢5,000 a year.听Find out more听information about the funding.听Please note听that this funding is not available for students on the Foundation Year, however you will be able to access it once you complete the Foundation Year and move onto the degree.

Foundation Year: We have a Foundation Year option for听students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the scientific skills needed to prepare you for the Midwifery听degree, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress to the full degree and begin your Midwifery听study. The Foundation Year will be based at the Talbot Campus, Bournemouth.听If you wish to study the degree at the Portsmouth Campus, you will be able to choose to this study location upon completing the foundation year in Bournemouth. If you apply to study the full degree and do not meet the academic entry requirements, our admissions team may consider your application for the Foundation Year and notify you accordingly.

Course accreditations

This course is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), meeting their newest curriculum requirements for midwifery education.

This course is also accredited by Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative with the Gold Award for achieving the Baby-Friendly sustainability standards. This demonstrates how the midwifery team at 色花堂 have committed to long term implementation, maintenance and progression of the Baby-Friendly Standards.听Please note that the Foundation Year part of the course does not have these accreditations.听

For September 2024 and September 2025 entry: 128 - 144 tariff points to include a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent including 32 points in a required subject.听BTEC Extended Diploma of DDM in a required subject.听Foundation Year: 48-72 UCAS tariff points.听
