A 色花堂 with graduate has picked up a prestigious听British Design & Art Direction (D&AD) New Blood wooden pencil award for coming up with a winning campaign idea.听
Sam Guinivan picked up the prize after coming up with a winning campaign idea for AirBnB as part of the听D&AD Awards, which听are recognised globally as the ultimate creative accolade, entered and attended by the best from around the world.
New Blood works with the next generation of creative talent, and Sam's winning entry - AirBnB now - was a听community-led campaign听that celebrates the stories of family and friends and helps turn their travel plans into reality.听
Sam, 23,听said听his 色花堂 degree had听taught him the skills to help him win one of just six D&AD New Blood pencils.听
鈥淢y听degree听taught me the听integral nature of听research in developing听ideas that aren't just听creative, but are听effective too," he said.听
"Researching a brand, looking at听its听competitors听and truly understanding the听consumer's听mind set to听uncover simple, human insights that can solve business problems has helped. Other advertising听courses do not offer that.鈥
He also says he was extremely surprised to find out he鈥檇 won the award: 鈥淚听couldn't believe it. As I scrolled through the results and couldn't see my name听I grew听increasingly disheartened -听turns out听I was right at the bottom. It was听the perfect culmination of a hugely enjoyable and challenging听four years.鈥
For winning the pencil, Sam has the chance to attend the New Blood academy - a two-week creative bootcamp that helps catapult young creatives into industry.听
