Treasurers Reports: Dianna Byers moved to accept the Treasurers Report, Brandis Senecal seconded the motion and they were approved unanimously Presentations: Sonja Sibert explained to the members that effective Fall 2011 the surcharge for next two years is split between general fund and a portion is set aside for financial aid for students needing financial assistance. The portion going to the general fund is 85 percent and 15 percent is set aside for financial aid. Grant in aid student will be responsible (professional and classified alike) for financial aid portion of surcharge. Example: 1 credit = $1.35; 3 credits $4.05. Upper division would be 1 credit = $2.21and 3 credit = $6.63. If enrolled in class now you will have surcharge for those accounts. This will be done in PeopleSoft and charged to your account. The other 85% of the surcharge is covered by grant-in-aid. There were no questions. There will be some exception and Lynn Mahlberg to look at what exceptions would be and who they would apply to. What about students not having degree/GED or in process? Jolina was not sure There will be more news to come. This will not apply to non-degree seeking students. Anouncements: At the naturalization ceremony in October, a 911 memorial will be going up (a piece of steel from one of the twin towers). It is currently on our campus and will be on display in library. Cynthia Delaney is working on a sculpture Tammi Cavender reported that Danny Gonzales and Peter Klem will be providing information on the constitution for Constitution Day. Anyone interested can call them and help. Old Business: Chil/Soup Cook-Off: Tami Potter reported that the posters are made. She has gone through inventory and there are a few items needed. Please check with her if you can help. It was decided that entry forms needed to be submitted by October 17th. Please contact Tammi to sign up for cornbread, etc. Advertising will take place on the radio, in GBC buildings. Everyone was reminded to check with their supervisors so they were aware of how busy this day will be and to make sure being gone will be acceptable. Renae Jim made the motion to approve the prize amounts of $60 for 1st place, $40, for 2nd place, and $20 for 3rd place (for Chili division and soup division). Paula seconded and the motion passed. Renae also will ensure that checks get out as soon as possible. Judges for each division were discussed: Chili: Jennifer, Scott, Carl, Umberto and Soup: Justine, Bret, and Laurie. Several volunteers will be needed the day of the cook-off. Please check with Tami Potter. Each entry will receive a ticket for lunch. It was decided to have cookies for dessert. Father-Daughter Ball: After a short discussion, Renae Jim made the motion to donate a $25.00 savings bond. Gaye Terras seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously. It was also noted that there should be a 6-month expiration on the bond. A very special congratulations and thank you was extended to Delores Whittaker for being our Outstanding Classified Employee.
