Regents Awards Update Dr. Paul Killpatrick reminded Presidents Council that the deadline for the Regents awards is coming up and requested an update at the next Presidents Council meeting. Ms. Kathy Schwandt will bring it up at the Faculty Senate meeting on October 22. She will provide a Faculty Senate update at the next Presidents Council meeting. Facilities Use Policy Mr. Carl Diekhans requested that Presidents Council review the GBC Facilities Use Policy. Any recommended changes will be discussed at the Presidents Council meeting on November 16, 2004. Miscellaneous The ɫ Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 16 at The Terrace. A planning committee is being formed and will be responsible for the planning. More details will follow. Presidents Council discussed the GroupWise GBCFACULTY email cache not including all faculty senate members. Jeff Cox will be notified of this problem. If a faculty member is not on this email cache, they need to contact Jeff Cox to add them to the cache. Mr. Diekhans reported that the Lander County School District has three more modular units to give away. GBC has already received two modular units from Lander County, and we could probably use one more in West Wendover, and another one in Battle Mountain. Presidents Council discussed the office shortage and the need for at least eight to ten more offices. The modular units could be used for additional office space. Mr. Diekhans will inquire about the three additional units. Mr. Diekhans reported that the purchase of a bus like the ones that KT Services uses has been finalized and delivery of the bus should happen this week. GBC paid $68,000 for the bus, which will be used for Class B CDL training. Dr. Killpatrick would like to acknowledge Bret Murphy and Steve Stevenson for making this happen. Dr. Killpatrick reported that a post-event meeting was held yesterday for the GBC participants of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) National Conference held in Overland Park, Kansas. He stated that he is interested in embracing the whole idea of entrepreneurship on a regional basis, involving all five counties from grades 3 -16. He would like to build on existing organizations such as Junior Achievement, Schools to Careers, Tech Prep, and FFA groups. He would like the College to become a leader in Entrepreneurial Education in Community Colleges. Mr. Diekhans reported that he met with the Legislative Council Bureau last week in Carson City and presented GBCs enhancements. The requested enhancements were funding for the BSN degree and the Emergency Medical Technician program, request for one-time only equipment dollars, request for additional money to fund the part-time salary increases, and continued support of the funding formula at 87%. Mr. Diekhans stated that GBCs Electrical Technology Building is still number four on the System list for the funding. Dr. McFarlane reported that there is still some confusion with the workload policy. The question about the duties of Director was discussed, and whether that position should fall under an A contract or a B contract. The Compensations and Benefits Committee will be meeting to discuss this and other issues within the workload policy. Ms. Ehrmann reported that the Foundation has received a $50,000 donation from International Gaming Technology to the Endowment for New Programs. She also reminded Presidents Council that raffle tickets are still available to purchase. The raffle drawing for $10,000 will be held on October 29. Red Ribbon Week 2004 Pledge to be Drug/Alcohol Free begins on October 23, 2004. The Student Government Association and PACE Coalition will be hosting a series workshops and fun events.
