Accreditation Update Mike McFarlane reported that the accreditation report was sent to Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities this weekend and emailed yesterday. Both evaluators are in receipt of the report. It was a difficult report to organize. We had to address the recommendations and the changes that have occurred in the past five years. Avoiding redundancy was hard. The exhibits will be put onto the website this week. We will send the evaluators a link to the exhibits so they have access to the exhibits before they come out. Our accreditation visit is on schedule for April 29-30, 2008. 3. Mission Statement Mission statement was approved at the last Faculty Senate meeting on March 14, 2008. For accreditation purposes we might want to consider how to assess dignity and respect. John Rice said that John Albrecht said we are just restating the mission, so it does not have to be approved by the Board of Regents. For the nursing accreditation they have to show what they are doing and how it serves the colleges mission. How does each department support the colleges mission? Should we develop an institutional assessment plan that includes the department missions? Ed Nickel stated that at some point teachers have to teach. At what point does the real job of teaching take the priority? There are reasons we have to ask for certain things. We need to define shared governance. Presidents Council will review the mission statement in one more week. Paul said he would like to create business cards with the mission on the back side once we get the mission approved. 4.
