Funds were acquired from a Learn and Serve Grant to construct the facility which will house animals for student learning. The recommended location for the facility is on the Elko County Fair Grounds; two other locations have been considered. Tracy Benson provided information on the logistics and cosmetics of the building. Several community volunteers have agreed to donate time, materials and equipment to help facilitate the construction and maintenance. Students participating in the program will be responsible for care of the animals and cleanup. Presidents Council will review the material for the request and provide a decision to Shane Sutton. Printing and Copying Charges Printing and copying charges are a concern. Several ideas were presented on possible solutions to the situation. Paul Killpatrick will meet with Elko County School District to discuss costs in the open lab located in the High Tech Center. Ed Nickel and Mike McFarlane will draft a proposal that will hold departments accountable for printing costs incurred by their areas. Big Blue Wall in Pahrump A request to remove the big blue wall in Pahrump was discussed. Russ Hammons will be contacted to see the feasibility of its removal. Also, a permanent GBC sign needs to be placed on the building. Academic Master Plan The Regents are requesting a separate Academic Plan. The Academic Master Plan will need to be extracted from the Strategic Plan and presented to the Regents for approval at the October meeting. Awarding of Honorary Degrees Awarding posthumous honorary degrees will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Perhaps, an alternative option to posthumous degrees is to recommend setting up scholarships in honor of the deceased. Sign Board There is currently no message on the sign board. It is important to always have a message announcing information or events concerning the college. It was suggested that a standard message be placed on the board when the SGA has no item to be announced. A message regarding faculty advising and fall enrollment will be placed on the board until the SGA returns for the fall semester. Miscellaneous GBC was asked to look at the possibility of acquiring the apprenticeship program from the College of Southern Nevada. Unfortunately, it is not cost effective for GBC to accommodate the program. Lynn Mahlberg announced that all positions in Admissions and Records have been filled except for a half-time position. The half-time position is expected to be filled within the next few weeks. A series of training sessions have been scheduled for staff during the summer. The purpose of the sessions is to provide training opportunities for staff that are unable to participate in training events during the fall and spring semesters. John Rice reported that weve currently raised $94,000 towards the Chancellors Challenge. The Foundation is very excited about the participation and success of the program. The promotion for the EIT building is also going very well; we are very close to reaching the goal of $500,000. The College News will be distributed by the first week of August. New student enrollment is staying steady for every location. Our challenge is in retention. An aggressive enrollment campaign targeting students who were enrolled last year but not yet enrolled for this semester will be put into action. At the Welcome Back Ceremony, Paul Killpatrick will discuss the concept of having a webpage devoted to faculty, staff and students to tell their stories on being a first generation college student. Dorothy Moore and Susanna Dorr have been asked to help with the first generation webpage. & D F e a y ; X h x { | 5 = @ A ] } q ºίΤίhW hW>*hWhW>*h?7yOJQJ^JhLthr h]h]h] h]hLth]hLt>*d<h'h]hBhV-h&v haKhaKhaKhaK>* haK>* haKh haKhd3(67@ A xygd`pgdW & Fgd<gd* & Fgd(kH `^``gdd$a$gdE$a$gdd hxxy)Mnr >45񓛓h, h#h(kHhFQh< hK1hK1 h(kH>*hs-hV-h`p h`ph`ph`ph`p>* h Rhtyh Rhty>* h pq>*h htyhtyhtyhty>*htyh pqhW hWhW6RS gd*gd`pgdFQ & Fgds-8^8gd pq & FgdK1gdK1 & Fgd<5:M\elw|OQSatu~ (02 ƿƿƿؿؿظ𱭦 htyh`p h`ph`ph`p hK1h(kH hs-hs- hs-hC~ hs-h>m hC~hC~h>F&F<36h_<3hV-h(kHh, h<h#26&P1h:p</ =!"#$% @@@ dNormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DAD Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k@(No ListHH >z Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJ&(67@Axy RS 00000000 00 00 00 00 00 0000 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00000000 5 8@0( B S ? !T O 3W T #T o 5W ?G 45W N ,)O |mS IP G |U .P O /O l ejqBBGr r } ip FMMy 9*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsplace=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceType=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceName pW_fn s55nZ9?֟^`o(. ^`hH. pLp^p`LhH. @ @ ^@ `hH. ^`hH.
