Legislative Updates No report. Faculty Senate Update Linda Uhlenkott reported that Faculty Senate voted to approve that a student must complete all required remedial coursework prior to completing 45 college-level credits. Presidents Council approved this change. For information purposes, Faculty Senate changed the annual self evaluation criteria under the primary job responsibilities to include participation in department meetings and to observe the minimum of 35 hours per week assigned workload (on campus was removed.) Presidents Council wondered if this wording change would entice faculty to work from home more than on campus. Presidents Council recommended adding another option where you could put things such as studio time and rehearsal time. Lynn Mahlberg commented that the new fire science program that Faculty Senate approved is not a new program, but rather a resurrected program. Grievance Procedure Wording Linda Uhlenkott reported that Faculty Senate would like to change the wording of the grievance procedure committee makeup. They feel the committee should be chosen collaboratively between the faculty senate chair and the president. If the grieved employee is academic faculty, the Senate chair will select at least five and no more than eight tenured academic faculty members and, if the grieved employee is an administrative faculty, the Senate chair will select at least five and no more than eight administrative faculty, each of whom has been at GBC at least 5 years. From these lists the president selects one person for the committee, who will then serve as chair. Administrative Faculty Evaluation A memo was presented to Presidents Council from the Administrative and Faculty Evaluation Committee to clarify that the peer evaluation process was removed from the administrative faculty evaluation process. Presidents Council approved the elimination of the peer review from the administrative faculty evaluation process. Employee Release/Exit Cliff Ferry presented wording to attach to the employee release/exit forms that PC is approved in April. Presidents Council approved the wording. Classified Council BBQ Classified Council had agreed to plan an employee BBQ for sometime in May. Unfortunately, Presidents Council did not get back with them on a date. It is now too late in the year to plan a BBQ for May. Perhaps another solution can be found. Miscellaneous Paul asked for clarification on dual credit offerings. If the dual credit class is offered through distance education, the fee is $25. If the class is offered on the campus, the president can determine the fee. Some institutions do not want to take transfer credits from dual credit. Paul reminded PC that the Ag fundraising dinner is this Friday at the Western Folk Life Center. The event is being catered by Biltokis. Lynn Mahlberg reported that the Career Fair went well. Faculty sent students over before and after classes. Lynn Mahlberg reported that she and Carl Diekhans are in the process of switching offices. The office switch will be completed this week. Carl Diekhans reported that we are proceeding with acquiring six modular units donated by Barrick Gold Company Turquoise Ridge. GBC will put the modular units to the east of KENV-TV. The modular units will provide temporary office space of ten to twelve offices and work rooms. We will determine who will be housed there at a later date. Linda Uhlenkott reported that the Faculty Senate is meeting this Friday. Debbie Heaton- Lamp will be talking about gifted and talented in connection with dual enrollment.
