Classified Council unanimously voted that they are in favor of reactivating College Council. They feel that the College Council is a way to have a stronger voice around campus and gives them the ability to make recommendations to Presidents Council. Classified Council has started the process of recommending someone for the Community College Conference Classified Council Excellence Award. The stipend will distributed to the persons serving in the aforementioned positions on the last day of June. The $1,500 stipend will be offered every year. Strategic Planning Dr. Cliff Ferry reported he is still working on the assessment of student outcomes for the strategic planning report. All the areas have established an annual plan and Dr. Ferry is requesting at update from each area reviewing the status of each line item. He would like to include some results in the report, or at the very least, have the results available to the evaluation team. Dr. Ferry distributed a proposed timeline for when each area would give an update to their annual plans to Presidents Council. Dr. Danny Gonzales mentioned that reactivating College Council would give Classified Council and the Student Government Association an opportunity to submit ideas for the next version of the strategic plan. Dr. Ferry has been working on the application for the Secondary Education program, the renewal of accreditation for the Elementary Education Program, and the three new endorsements (Early Childhood Development, English as a Second Language, and Special Education.) All of these programs will be included in one package that will be submitted to the Department of Education. Dr. Ferry stated that having John Newman to assist in the application process has made a big difference. Faculty Senate may be ready for a vote at the next meeting. Presidents Council would have the final approval. Organizational Structure Ms. Kathy Schwandt reported there are forums scheduled this week to talk about proposed division structures and duties of the division chair. She encouraged Dr. McFarlane to attend. The forums should generate written rationale for proposed divisions and Division Chair duties. Proposals will then be brought to the March 18 Faculty Senate meeting for a vote. The approved proposal will then be submitted to Presidents Council for their approval. Other related topics may be addressed at these forums (time permitting). These topics are job descriptions and duties for Dean of Academic Support for Applied Science; job descriptions and duties for eventual Deans of Academic Support for Health Science, and for Arts and Sciences; job descriptions and duties for Department Chairs; and job descriptions and duties for Faculty.
